Most of us know that the general advice for peaceful nighttimes is to limit the amount of electrical devices you have in the bedroom and to consider turning off those that you do keep there. Many of them are known to emit more than just heat and light. Now, to ensure you keep yourself ticking over and free from mood disorders, the cut-off time for putting down tablets and phones is recommended as 10pm. After that, there should be no more scrolling through social media feeds, reading the news or firing off emails. Just put it down and if you’re not sleepy yet, pick up a book instead (and make it a physical copy, not an e-book). Even if you want to book gay massage, consider putting down the phone and booking in the morning. This advice follows research at the University of Glasgow, who ran a study about the subject and discovered that disrupting your body-clock with late-night Facebooking can increase the chances of you getting depression or even its more distressing sibling, bipolar disorder. And even if you manage to evade those two nasties, late-night tablet and phone interaction can still lessen your overall feelings of happiness and satisfaction with life, making you feel more and more lonely.

What these studies have shown us

We’ve touched on circadian rhythms in a past entry; they are the physiological and behavioural variations that occur within every 24-hour period, including our wake/sleep cycles and hormone fluctuations. Plants, animals and all living things have circadian rhythms; they play a significant role in the maintenance of health, including mental health. The 10pm cut-off advice means that there is still winding-down time, allowing us to fall asleep by 11pm or thereabouts. This means that a healthy sleeping pattern can be kept up. The most recent study involved over 90,000 subjects, with an age span of 37 to 73, and took place over four years. The results were conclusive; screen-time, so often a source of enjoyment and wonder for so many of us, is no friend of sleep. In fact, many people worry about how to control or limit their children’s screen-time, and the idea that an excess can inflict damage ranging from unhappiness to full-blown mental illness, should concern us all.

Confusion for some as well as little evidence

One of the worries is that screen-time can have an impact on children’s ability to learn. Adding to the confusion is the fact that we’re still in the infancy of the smart-phones and tablets era. Consequently, the advice changes all the time and even today, some publications include fiercely-argued polemics to suggest that we’re worrying about nothing and that exactly the same sorts of panics were stirred up when television was new. And in more recent times, we’ve lived through the video-game and video-nasty panics, yet there is still no proper evidence to suggest that video games turn previously placid children into violent killers as the more sensationalistic articles would have us believe.

How gay massage can help you

In the end, as with the way we eat and drink, you can’t go wrong with moderation. And if your screen-time is slowly expanding, then booking gay massage London means there’ll be a good 90 minutes in which you and your smartphone are properly parted.

It’s a problem as old as time itself. Few of us can quite make peace with hair-loss. It feels like being stripped of youth, beauty and vitality.
